Halmstads BK is entering a partnership with Danish top club FC Copenhagen. The road to Allsvenskan goes partly through FC Copenhagen, with whom HBK has signed a formal cooperation agreement. CEO Tony Karlsson sees opportunities for both clubs. Thanks to a good relationship between former HBK coach Janne Jönsson and FCK colleague Ståle Solbakken, players Aboubakar Keita and Marcus Mathisen ended up in Halmstad. Now the clubs have realized that the cooperation benefits both parties and have formally signed an agreement. It makes it easier for HBK to use players who do not take a direct spot in FCK's team. FCK wants to play in the Champions League or Europa League every year, while HBK wants to establish itself in Allsvenskan. The cooperation will not only be about player exchanges but also about training and commercial issues. FC Copenhagen's club director Johan Lange is pleased with the cooperation. Halmstads BK finished fifth in Superettan and has four Swedish championships. The partnership with FC Copenhagen can be an important step towards establishing itself in Allsvenskan again. The agreement is expected to be announced on Friday. HBK's CEO Tony Karlsson believes that the partnership can lead to some players joining the club already in 2019.
