Halmstads BK player suspended after derby loss to Malmö FF. The loss was a tough pill to swallow for the team, which now must bounce back. It was after the loss to Västerås on May 24 that a player in Halmstads BK's squad took a night out in town. He was then absent from training and the final match of the spring against Malmö FF. Now we have an explanation for why. At the members' meeting on Wednesday, football manager Daniel Andersson announced that Halmstads BK, a few days after the VSK match, suspended the player for his partying. As a consequence, he was not allowed to play matches or train with the team for a period. It was on a question from an attendee that Andersson confirmed that 'a certain player' had been suspended the previous week. Halmstads BK's football manager does not want to reveal who it is about. - He was not eligible to play in the match and was not allowed to train with the team, said Andersson on stage. Andersson also does not want to comment on how many training sessions the player was suspended for. - I do not want to comment on that here in the newspaper. We handle it internally. After the members' meeting, chairman Zlatko Rihter stood up for an interview. He mostly refers to his football manager but gives the following, brief comment on what happened: - It was as Daniel said on stage. It is usually the sports leadership that takes such questions. We have a policy and it should be followed. Fotbollskanalen is seeking the player for a comment.
