Halmstads BK won its first match in Allsvenskan 2026 with 2-0 against Örgryte. Captain Rocco Ascone scored the first goal on a half-volley in the first half. 18-year-old Ludvig Arvidsson scored 2-0 via the right post in the second half. After the match, HBK's new coach Stuart Baxter celebrated the win with home players and fans. A pair of red boxing gloves were thrown onto the pitch, and Baxter put one on with a big smile. He boxed midfielder Hussein Carneil in the stomach, which reminded him of the unconventional methods he used when he was coach for HBK in the years 1988-1991. Baxter enjoyed the win when he spoke with TV4 afterwards. – It was valuable points – of course – in the situation we are in. But it was just as important that we got a mental confirmation that we are on the right track, says Baxter. He notes that HBK will face more setbacks during the season. – But what was fun today was that we didn't back down in the periods where we felt that Öis put us under pressure. We continued to play and believe in the path we've taken.
